She says oh my
Because it says on her locker door
Today she’ll be working level four
In the unit
And she breathes a sigh
‘Cause the one place she’d rather not be
Is taking care of the boy in three
In the unit
That little boy is her son’s friend
His life nearly came to an end
When a drunk hit him on the sidewalk yesterday
His Glasgow scale remains a three
With a high ICP
And she wonders if he’ll even see his next birthday
She goes in there
And she gives a silent nod to his mom and dad
It’s hard to speak ‘cause she feels so bad
In the unit
And she says a prayer
Asking God if maybe He just might
Intervene on behalf of this little boy’s plight
In the unit
She begins to see some changes
That happen through the day
All his readings stabilize
Then she sees him open up his eyes
And his mother cries
And she beams so proud as her brave little man
Gives a great big squeeze to his dad’s loving hand
In the unit
And as she dries her eyes
The lady that started out our story
Praises the Great Healer and His glory
In the unit
And she breathes a sigh
In the unit
In the unit
