MUCOUS AND PHLEGM

Based on “Spiders And Snakes” written by Jim Stafford

I remember when I was two and
My mouth and nose made lots of drool
I thought that it was cool
And so anytime I was alone
At the playground or my bedroom at home
I’d practice making all kinds of goo

One day I took a stroll
Thought that maybe I’d take a poll
And ask folks if they liked sputum too
So I went up to a little gal
That I thought could maybe be my pal
And I said to her do you like goo
She said…

I don’t like mucous and phlegm
o don’t talk about them
You got me you fool you fool
I don’t like mucous and phlegm
If you talk about them
I’ll smack you so just shut up your big bazoo

When I got out of school those folks of mine
They said to me boy now’s the time
You should go to college
I chose R.T. School
And so I got started and then
I re-discovered my love affair with phlegm
I thought it was so doggone cool

Other people thought snot was vile
But it would always make me smile
I loved it when the lungs got clear
I was cocky a touch I guess
When I saw a nurse I wanted to impress
She saw me and shouted so all could hear
She said…
